I'm Back!!! Well, kinda sorta........

Hi all. I've returned from a wonderfully relaxing 9-day hiatus which actually could have been longer but, was still a rather great rejuvenating experience. I didn't get to do EVERYTHING I so desperately wanted but I did get to do atleast some of things that had been sitting on the back burners of my mind. I know I talked alot about going fishing. Well, I didn't get to do much of that but the good part of this deal is that I did get some major repairs done at home. The best part of this news is that this work cost me absolutely nothing. That's right, being that I am no longer a "home owner", my landlord foot the bill so that was good enough for me! Other than home renovations being done, I also was able to set up some appointments that I never would've been able to make since I'm hardly ever here in the daytime. It's funny how things work out. On my first day of vacation, I was washing some clothes and one of my washing machines wouldn't agitate. I took the clothes out of it and put them in the other washer. Guess what? That washer didn't want to spin.(hard to believe isn't it) So there I was, faced with no washers and a ton of dirty laundry.....The odd part was that these machines were only 5 years old. I'm not that hard on appliances. I always used care when loading them. Anyway, I had to make a call to Sears and luckily, they were able to give me an appointment for the next day. The only problem was that I was intending on going fishing that day with the weather being so nice and all. Well, that was shot because my appointment was anytime between 8am and 5pm.(how convenient) Atleast I have one of the washers working again. The other one unfortunately is going to cost more to get fixed than it's worth so, I'm going to have to buy a new one. If I go to Sears within 2 weeks, I'll save $65.00 on a new one so, that's what I shall do.

I know I've been rather scarce around here but I haven't forgotten any of you. I just seem to have too many irons in the fire right now I suppose. Here's something I'd like to share with all of you. Just a little something I ran across that I'm sure everyone here will be able to relate to in one way or another......

This particular post comes from a friend of mine who occasionally blogs on StumbleUpon. He goes by the name of MusZicMan. Enjoy....

MusZicMan's reviews
TO ALL THE KIDS WHO WERE BORN IN THE
1930's 40's, 50's, 60's and 70's !!

First, we survived being born to mothers who smoked and/or drank while
they carried us.

They took aspirin, ate blue cheese dressing, tuna from a can, and
didn't get tested for diabetes.

Then after that trauma, our baby cribs were covered with bright
colored lead-based paints.

We had no childproof lids on medicine bottles, doors or cabinets and
when we rode our bikes, we had no helmets, not to mention, the risks
we took hitchhiking.

As children, we would ride in cars with no seat belts or air bags.

Riding in the back of a pick up on a warm day was always a special
treat.

We drank water from the garden hose and NOT from a bottle.

We shared one soft drink with four friends, from one bottle and NO ONE
actually died from this.

We ate cupcakes, white bread and real butter and drank soda pop with
sugar in it, but we weren't overweight because.....

WE WERE ALWAYS OUTSIDE PLAYING!!

We would leave home in the morning and play all day, as long as we
were back when the streetlights came on.

No one was able to reach us all day. And we were O.K.

We would spend hours building our go-carts out of scraps and then ride
down the hill, only to find out we forgot the brakes. After running
into the bushes a few times, we learned to solve the problem.

We did not have Playstations, Nintendo's, X-boxes, no video games at
all, no 99 channels on cable, no video tape movies, no surround sound,
no cell phones, no personal computers, no Internet or Internet chat
rooms..........WE HAD FRIENDS and we went outside and found them!

We fell out of trees, got cut, broke bones and teeth and there were no
lawsuits from these accidents.

We ate worms and mud pies made from dirt, and the worms did not live
in us forever.

We were given BB guns for our 10th birthdays,
made up games with sticks and tennis balls and although we were told
it would happen, we did not put out very many eyes.

We rode bikes or walked to a friend's house and knocked on the door or
rang the bell, or just yelled for them!

Little League had tryouts and not everyone made the team. Those who
didn't had to learn to deal with disappointment. Imagine that!!

The idea of a parent bailing us out if we broke the law was unheard
of. They actually sided with the law!

This generation has produced some of the best risk-takers, problem
solvers and inventors ever!

The past 50 years have been an explosion of innovation and new ideas.

We had freedom, failure, success and responsibility, and we learned

HOW TO DEAL WITH IT ALL!

And YOU are one of them!

CONGRATULATIONS!

You might want to share this with others who have had the luck to grow
up as kids, before the lawyers and the government regulated our lives
for our own good.

And while you are at it, forward it to your kids so they will know how
brave their parents were.

Kind of makes you want to run through the house with scissors, doesn't
it?!

I'm with you constant on that memories tip.
Yea, atleast I can wash clothes at home again. I hate having to go to the laundromat 'cause it's always crowded and there's always 2 old biddys arguing over the use of a laundry table to fold their clothes. LOL
